Flotation in water treatment is a separation technique that uses air bubbles as the transport medium. Suspended particulate matter that is hydrophobic or has been adjusted to be hydrophobic attaches to the air bubbles and flows toward the surface of the aqueous solution in a direction opposite to the force of gravity.
Dispersive air flotation (or froth in mineral processing) technology usually combines electric flotation and dissolved air flotation (DAF) based on Henry's Law, two types of bubble formation methods.
